Photographer Jake Rajs has compiled over 140 striking photographs of the World Trade Center that recall the Twin Towers in the era before 9/11 to honor the lives that were lost or forever changed there.

The Twin Towers were two skyscrapers, stripped of unnecessary information, graphically powerful. The space between them and the way they reflected light on all eight sides were constantly changing, as were the moods and emotions they evoked. They were perfect icons for the city in which they stood, majestic, dramatic, romantic. Sometimes familiar, sometimes mysterious. An urban monument one moment and pure fantasy the next.

“New York is always changing, always reinventing itself. The Towers epitomize a particular time in New York, a time that is now gone. But ten years following the attacks, these images bring back memories of beauty, love and peace. I am so happy to share them with you.” – Jake Rajs
